I know you have your own worries. I know the world asks you for help every day. But please, give me just two minutes.
My name is Petro.
I am a Ukrainian soldier.
And somewhere between the life I once knew and the life I live today, I discovered something I never imagined I would have to do.
Ask strangers for help.
It is not easy to write those words.
When you wear a uniform, people expect you to be strong. To endure. To find a way. To carry everything without showing how heavy it has become.
But being a soldier does not mean you stop being human.
The life that waits somewhere behind the war
Think about an ordinary evening.
You close the door of your home. You make yourself something warm to drink. Perhaps someone you love is waiting for you.
You don’t call it happiness. You simply call it life.
There was a time when I understood happiness that way too.
War changes the meaning of ordinary things.
A quiet morning becomes something precious. A familiar voice becomes something you want to hear again. The possibility of tomorrow becomes something you no longer take for granted.
And still, people continue. They work. They serve. They help one another. They try to preserve whatever can still be preserved.
Why I am asking
I am seeking personal support for medical treatment and recovery after years of military service.
I am trying to take care of my health and find a path toward recovery. The costs of treatment are difficult for me to meet alone.
And a person cannot recover on determination alone.
I know that you may already have helped Ukraine. I know that many people are struggling financially themselves.
I am not asking you to sacrifice what you need for your own family.
I am asking something simpler.
If you can help, please consider it.
If you cannot, perhaps you can share my story with someone who can.
A small request from a stranger
Perhaps we will never meet.
Perhaps you will close this page and return to your ordinary evening.
If you do, I hope it is peaceful.
But if something in these words has reached you, please remember that there is a real person behind them.
A soldier who would rather be telling you about a peaceful life than asking for help during a war.
If you came here looking for a way to donate to Ukraine, I ask you to consider supporting my appeal.
Even a small contribution is a gesture I will not take for granted.
And if you want to know the person you are helping, my story is waiting for you.
