Home can mean an address, but it can also mean freedom from uncertainty: a familiar street, people who know your voice, and a chance to decide what tomorrow looks like.
A Ukrainian soldier’s perspective
I began military service in 2020. My journey east reminded me how easily we take familiar places for granted. Distance changed my understanding of what it means to return.
Behind the news from Ukraine
When I write about home, I do not mean a perfect past. I mean the ordinary life to which I hope one day to return.
This article reflects my personal experience and does not represent an official military statement. Read the full personal story, view photographs and open the unchanged original three-page account. If you would like others to hear this voice from Ukraine, please share the link.
